“We ask the question: “Is it hunger, or is it habit?”

Mindfulness in general is useful for being aware of all of the parts of your body. And very often with most of us, we eat because we’re bored or we eat because we had a bad breakup, or maybe we’re feeling a little down and we’re looking for something to give us some comfort.

The other thing that we try to cultivate is paying attention to our body cues. There was an experiment that was done with bags of popcorn. And people went through the entire bag of popcorn just because it was in front of them, rather than because they were actually hungry.

So what we start to do is we start to pay attention to our physical body cues and we tune in to how we’re actually feeling. We want to make sure that we’re really eating out of hunger.”
